I love my school. If I could finish my final year at my school I would. Leesburg High School is a great school academically and physically. They help you get to where you need to be and help you to strive to be the better person you are to become in the near future. Lets go Jackets!!

THIS IS NOT A GOOD SCHOOL!!!! Teachers does the bare minimum and could care less if your child passes or fails. They play too much with Student and get frustrated when the situation is out of their control. This school need a staff makeover!!!!

This is a great school! I have to say that this is the best High School I have been to! Excellent Teachers (Depending on who you get) But it's more than above average! I believe that this year is the best! We are now known as the "ON Time" Students! It's pretty cool and you really feel proud of your work in this school! No matter if its completely done wrong, you still get a valid grade!

I have a question that I hope can be answered. Right now I attend The Villages High School and next year, my 11th grade year, I was thinking about switching to LHS. However, I live in Summerfield, about 15 minutes away from Leesburg. My aunt said she didnt think I was eligable to attend since I am not zoned for LHS. Can someone tell me if LHS is a possibility for me?

I have three children that graduated from LHS and my fourth child is currently enrolled. It is so true that your High School years will be whatever YOU make of them. One child got a better education than her peers in the UF Honors program, one child went to college on an atheletic scholarship, and one child that excelled in academics at LHS has decided collge is not for her. The student makes choices for themselves no matter how much money their school gets. If they want to excell, LHS gives them every opportunity!

there is no way to escape the slackers and kids with no drive, they are at every school. i have attended other high schools in the lake county area and found LHS my favorite. i am enrolled in all AP, honors, or college prep classes. teachers are always there to help as are the other school officals. students just dont seek out this help. the band, chorus, drama, art and sports programs are great considering the lack of funding as well as the AP, honors and dual enrollment opportunities. dont let kids who choose the easy ways out change your mind about this school.

with all the strictness, I'd expect a safer school..to much bullying, violence. Not what I expected for my small town....

I am a current student at Leesburg High School and I couldn't be more happy. While there are always kids who don't care about their education, most of us do. I know that Mrs. Velez really cares about us and wants us to do well and it shows. Of course kids complain about rules but I know that the rules are there with good intentions so accept them. There are some great teachers here who want us to succeed. The athletics and extra curricular activites area great and school spirit is good. I don't blame the school for the below agerage performance of some of the students, I blame those students and their parents. If every student was underperforming then the school would be at fault but that is not the case. I would recommend LHS to anyone.

Man i love tha fact that i can go to leesburg barely try and get a diploma.. It is so easy coming from the villages and goin to a school like this.. For people who really dont want to go to school this school is an excellent place honestly it has some of the best sport teams around this year and in 05 the football team went to state and this year they were district champs.. The weightlifting team is awesome and the girls basketball team is top quality also.. You either get teachers who are too hard or are very very easy.. Hopefully your the lucky one and gets the teacher who watches movies or lets you on the internet to do stuff like this.. Like i am now... So for the slackers who like sports out there come to this school and enjoy.

I believe that an education at LHS is whatever you choose to make of it. I know students that skated by and graduated without really learning much. However, I feel that I got an exceptional education there by making sure that I got the best teachers and always took the hardest classes. Frankly, I think I learned more in high school than many of the students that I met in the honors program at UF, including those with IB diplomas. It's true that many parents aren't involved, but there is always a dedicated group, and extracurricular activities are, at the very least, average for a school of this size. In all, I had an exceptional high school experience at LHS.

I am currently a student at LHS and I am not surprised that the school is in such a miserable state. The school board seems to believe that more strict rules are a solution to all of the problems that we face, There is a gross lack of funding due to retirement and tourism. You cant just gauge the school as a good one because you child cares and is in AP classes and does well. There is a total lack of parent participation and that is damaging.

My 2 older children are attending this school amd I am pleased with the education that they are receiving. They are both taking honors and AP classes, are active in clubs and athletics, and are generally having a positive high school experience. However, my third child has some learning disabilities and I wouldn't send him to this school, because I see a lot of problems stemming from undisciplined young people who are not attending the school to learn and cause a lot of problems for the teachers not lucky enouth to teach the more challenging courses. There are a group of parents who participate and help out, and a much larger group who just don't care. In short, look carefully at the type of classes your child will be attending before choosing this school.

Leesburg High School is an excellent school. It has some very good teachers and programs from academics to music to athelics. If the parents would get more invoved with their child's education it could improve the school's grade. The grade does not reflect the entire school, especially with the high acheivers, AP, and honor students. The community needs to work with the schools to help those in the lower socio-economic areas improve the abilities of poorly motivated students to acheive. This would raise the score of LHS. It is not always the fault of the teachers or administrators. Get involved!
